Code Of Conduct

At Sirens, we want to cultivate a bold, welcoming, and empowering environment. To keep our sanctuary safe and supportive for everyone who walks through the door, this Code of Conduct is posted in all our studio spaces and we expect everyone to abide by it whenever they’re in the studio.

Our Sanctuary (The Studio Space)

  • Wipe it down: Clean your pole when you are finished, return your spray bottle to the tray, and toss your used towel(s) into the designated bin.
  • Put props away: Return all yoga mats, foam rollers, blocks, and weights to their proper homes after use.
  • Protect the mirrors: Please do not lean or prop your phone against our mirrors, use a phone stand instead.
  • Claim your space: Please stick to using one pole per person during class.
  • Hands off the controls: Do not adjust the thermostat or the music volume during class; let your instructor handle the room settings.

Your Fellow Dancers (The Community)

  • Protect the vibe: Remember, Sirens is an escape from the outside world.
  • Hype each other up: Cheer for your classmates' breakthroughs and victories, big or small. Everyone here is working on different goals, styles, and timelines, honor their unique path.
  • Keep advice consensual: Never offer unsolicited form corrections, tips, or critiques. Unless a fellow student explicitly asks for your feedback, leave the coaching to the instructor on duty.
  • Film mindfully: Always check your camera angles and ask for verbal consent from anyone in your background before hitting record.
  • Body neutrality: Leave commentary on body sizes outside the studio, even if intended as a compliment. Our focus is on how movement feels, not what bodies look like.
  • Respect boundaries: Keep the studio a pressure-free zone. We have zero tolerance for bullying, gossip, or harassment inside the studio or online.
  • Honor our roots: Show deep respect for strippers and sex workers, whose labor and artistry built the foundation of pole dance.

In-Class Etiquette

  • Arrive on time for warm-ups: Doors close 5 minutes after class begins. The warm-up is non-negotiable for injury prevention.
  • Stick to what’s being taught: Please stick to the movements and combos being taught by your instructor. In our drop-in trick classes, you are welcome to bring requests and your instructor will accommodate them the best they can! Otherwise, please save independent skills and off-lesson tricks for designated freestyle moments or open studio times.
  • Leave the spotting to the pros: For insurance and physical safety, only certified Sirens instructors may spot or physically assist students.
  • Trust the progression: Respect instructor decisions regarding level placements, prerequisites, and safety readiness. They are looking out for your longevity as a dancer.

Yourself

  • Speak kindly to yourself: Respect the badass you are for being here in the first place! Speak about your body, strength, and progress with patience and grace.
  • Playfulness + Joy: We value the pleasurable journey over the final destination. Progress isn't just about nailing a trick, it’s about curiosity, laughter, and enjoying the process of moving your body.
